While living in one of five fully adaptive, accessible apartments located in EIH's Laura Wallerstein Apartment Building at 956 West 2nd street, program participants get hands on experience in the following 13 independent living related areas:

· Attendant Care Management
· Civil Rights, Law and Advocacy
· Communication Skills
· Educational and Vocational Skills
· Employment Skills
· Adaptive Equipment and Functional Skills
· Financial Management and Budgeting
· Health and Safety
· Housing

· Self Care and Daily Living Skills
· Self Help and Personal Skills
· Social and Recreational Skills
· Transportation Skills

Another option is the Independent Living Skills day program. Four days a week, participants attend training at 956 West 2nd Street.

Following their training, most consumers gain the skills to begin living independently in the community. Many program graduates manage their own apartments and attend school, receive vocational training or pursue careers.
